Adelaide’s own premier French musical act Lou Blackwell and the French Set is celebrating Bastille Day at The Gov this year with a spectacular variety show of French chansons that will delight audiences and send them off in a French waltz all the way home!

After embodying the remarkable French chanteuse Juliette Gréco in her award-winning cabaret show LOVE ON THE LEFT BANK, singer Lou Blackwell brings together some of Adelaide’s finest musicians to perform songs from the great ‘variété française’ French popular song tradition. Louise and the band will pay homage to so many wonderful French singers and songwriters: Charles Trenet, Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Yves Montand, Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Aznavour and more…and in so doing, conjure up the great concert halls of Paris where so many of these legendary entertainers once performed.

Backed by a dream band featuring Mark Simeon Ferguson on piano, Julian Ferraretto on violin, Tom Pulford on saxophone and clarinet, Dylan Paul on double bass and Josh Baldwin on drums, Louise will sing some of their ‘best of’ and new songs as well…with superb backing vocals from the band to boot… Ooh là là! Get yourselves to the GOV for a French musical feast this Bastille Day
